7 Steps to Receive a Refreshing by Brenda Jefferson

Greetings, my brothers and sisters in Christ. Welcome to 2008! This season is ripe with unlimited possibilities. Indeed, this is a time of refreshing and your year to be revitalized. Acts 3:19 says, Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. Therefore, in order for you to experience this new day and a new me, Christ will come. And, in order for sins to be blotted out there has to be a change.

There are things you must do in order to get your refreshing. Examine your actions.

If you say you attract all the wrong men/women where are you looking? If your finances are not in order, where are you planting your seeds? If you find yourself constantly grinding away to get ahead but are slipping further behind, where are you placing your energy? You are to plant your seeds on good ground based on biblical principals (Genesis 27:26-33).

Ask yourself, where is my life? If you want something you have never had, you have to do something you have never done. Ephesians 3:20 states, Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. Thus, everything that you desire from God is already in you. Now, all you have to do is open your mouth and claim it. Have faith and speak it into existence!

The following is a guide to help ensure that 2008 and your latter days are greater than your past:

1. Rededicate your life back to Christ. Make a new covenant with the only one with the power to make all things possible. Consider Psalm 51:10 which says, Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

2. Spend time with God in daily prayer. By communicating with God, you open yourself up to a bounty of understanding and blessings. For Jeremiah 29:12 states, Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

3. Spend time daily in the Word. Not only will you gain understanding, but God will also reveal keys to succeeding in life. For we are to, Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth, according to 2 Timothy 2:16.

4. Thank and Give God praise for things to come. Consider what Paul prescribes to the Gentiles in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

5. Each day is a special occasion - live each day as if it were one - peacefully. Walk in that unspeakable joy that encompasses you when celebrating a birthday or special holiday. Share that same peace, love and hope with friends, family, strangers and enemies. Consider Leviticus 19:18 which states, Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge, against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD.

6. Wisdom can not be bought with money; be willing to work for your goals. Become like a sponge and soak up droplets of knowledge from every opportunity. Proverbs 1:3 says, A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels. And consider Job's parable in Job 28:12-13 when he asks, But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.

7. Write down your goals and vision for your life and it will surely come to pass. Create a blueprint for your goals to foresee upcoming challenges and triumphs. Consider Habbakuk 2:2-3 which states, And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Finally, don't walk into 2008 carrying extra weight. Let go of past pains by casting your burdens upon the Lord (Psalm 55:22). Allow God to bring you to a place of pure serenity in His presence; for there is where you'll find a time of refreshing.
